About
Azad Hall of Residence is named after India's first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It is famous for having started the tradition of Illumination, or ILLU as today's KGPians know it. Azad Hall is always reputed for its stellar performances in Soc-Cult events, especially Dramatics and Choreography.

There are a total of 424 rooms for the accommodation of the students of Azad Hall, with 260 Single rooms, 20 Double sharing rooms, 142 Triple sharing rooms and 2 Four sharing rooms. Also, the Hall provides 2 Double-bedded AC guest rooms with television and attached bathrooms having geyser installed.
Culture
Azad Hall of Residence is the only Hall in IIT KGP to have a Hall Anthem and an Oath of Fire.

Hall Anthem is composed by 1982 alumnus Anup Verma (Department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering).

In Azad Hall There are canteen,xerox shop, Stationery Shop, Nescafe,Cycle repairing shop which helps Azadians a lot . All vendors provide service to us at very feasible rate . They have also another level of hall tempo & always stand with Azadians . We are thankful to them.
Night Canteen
Azad Night Canteen, also known as Ravi Da's Canteen or simply Ravi Da, is the main canteen of Azad Hall of Residence. It usually opens in the evening around 9 pm and remains open till 3-4 am. Major employees of the canteen are Manoj, Praveen and Ajay, apart from the owner Ravi.
SAM D
Sam D refers to a general purpose shop located in Azad Hall of Residence. The shop is located at the mouth of corridor leading to B, C, D and E wings. The shop provides all general utility items like stationery, chocolates, chips, along with edible items like fruits, patty, and juice. The shop is named after its owner.
CYCLE REPAIRING -ASHOK DA
It is situated at the front cycle parking of Azad Hall. Here we inflate our cycle tyres and repair parts of the cycle.
Nescafe
Nescafe is situated near D Block's badminton court. It is the hunger saviour of boarders at any hour. It is open 24x7.
Pradeep Da
Located besides the mess,Pradeep Da serves delicious beverages which helps quench the thirst in the hot summer months.It is available from 9 AM to 3 AM
Xerox
Xerox Shop of Azad Hall is at the ground floor of C Block Open timings are 9 AM to 12 PM and 5 PM to 9PM. Here we print our notes and admit cards one day before examination.
Hall Council Members
Hall Council members are selected each year by the warden of the hall to ensure smooth conduction of hall related activitiies within the hall. These activities include Hall maintenance, welfare activities, grand dinners, festival functions, alumni meets, etc. Hierarchically, the Hall President and Second Senate Member(4th years) work in coordination with the General Secretaries(3rd years) and the secretaries(2nd years) to ensure the smooth functioning of the hall.

Hall Captains
To represent Azad Hall of Residence in the Gymkhana General Championships, every year the Hall Council Members appoint Captains of each event held in the General Championships. The Captains(4th/5th years) work closely with the vice-captains(3rd years) and secretaries(2nd years) throughout the event starting from selection of the event team to ensuring all activities of the event are conducted smoothly and timely. Captains bear the responsibility that best of the members of hall pertaining to the corresponding event participate in the event and perform their level best in the event.
